Window Treatments

Beautiful flowing curtains ..

Drapery dresses the room, creates the finishing feel, provides warmth and impact within a room. With so many options available, it really makes sense to use a designer to find the very best choice for your space to enhance the windows and avoid costly mistakes.

Take advantage of the lessons I’ve learned along the way.    Think about planning your tracking before finalising your new build.    In some instances you’ll want to recess a track into the ceiling for an integrated look – requiring early planning with your builder sto ensure recesses and fixings can be allowed for. All this effort is so worth the seamless result.    Window treatments can be a substantial investment,  and adding these small details can really set the look apart.

Current window dressing trends

Current trends that are popular, show curtains hung high as the ceiling and pooling on the floor, creating a voluminous, luxurious feel.    Wall to wall drapes can also be successful to create drama and make the room feel larger.    Try colours muted or bold, or colour matched to your walls. Linens are still popular, and with NZ harsh light, blended linens are popular and look contemporary.    Metal rods can create a striking feature statement, while recessed tracks keep it clean and minimal.

Choosing the right finishings for New Zealand conditions

NZ home furnishings need protection from UV, and therefore sunscreen blinds and curtain backings need to be considered to give longevity.

As a designer I have access to many unique supplier brands and can have drapery custom made to suit your specific room.    Whether one room or a house lot, get in touch for a professional finish.
